Mr. Martin Murphy, 48 of Boxford, beloved husband of Susen J. (LaBonte) Murphy, died unexpectedly on October 2, 2013.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Richard Murphy and Jean (Donahue) Martin was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School. He continued his education and received his degree from ITT Technical Institute.
Martin was a self-taught mason, where he became the founder and proprietor of M & M Masonry of Boxford for twenty years. Known for his attention to detail, he most recently completed the renovation of the Peabody Essex Museum, as well as the Greek Orthodox Church in Lynn.
Mr. Murphy enjoyed many hobbies; however his greatest passion was being on his boat in the ocean. He enjoyed taking his family whale watching, fishing, and trips to Cape Cod beaches. Martin was most noted for his great sense of humor and was extremely devoted to his children and friends, and will be deeply missed.
Martin is survived by his wife Susen J. (LaBonte) Murphy of Boxford, his son Christopher Murphy and his wife Emily of Salem, his daughters Laura Murphy of Salem and Julia Murphy of Boxford, his step-son, Robert Wierzbowski of Boxford, his sister Beth Dunbar and her husband Michael of Salem and his brother Tony Duratti and his wife Karen of Beverly, and sister-in-law and brother -in-law Sharon and Michael Donnell.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours in The O'Donnell Funeral Home 46 Washington Sq., (At Salem Common) Salem, Wednesday from 4 to 8 P.M. All other services are private.
