TOPSFIELD- Mrs. Iva Grace Gilford was born on November 7, 1918 in a small town in Newfoundland, Canada, to Isabel and James Taylor. She came to the United States at the age of 21 to visit a sister. She met a wonderful family who needed a nanny for a baby they were expecting and she stayed with them for many years until she met her husband, Elbridge "Gilly" Gilford. After a few months of dating, they got engaged and then married on Easter Sunday, April 1950. They have three children and a store in Topsfield, Gil's Grocery.
Grace is survived by her husband of 62 years, her daughter Marsha Robinson and her husband John, her daughter Polly Croteau, her son Jim Gilford and his wife Martha, her sister-in-law Marion Taylor, her granddaughters Jennifer, Heather, Emma, her great grandchildren Hannah, Scott, William, and several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours which will be held in the Peterson-O'Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple St., (rte. 62) Danvers, Friday, from 4 to 7 p.m. Her funeral service will be held in the Congregational Church of Topsfield, East Common St., Topsfield, Saturday at 10 a.m.. Following the service all are invited to a collation at the Emerson Center, 9 East Common St., (Directly across the Town Common)Topsfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Danvers Breast Health Center, one of GAC's Favorite Charities.
